The short answer: yes, if you present to clients regularly. Gamma Plus costs $9 a month billed annually ($108 a year, checked October 27, 2026), removes the Gamma branding and creates up to 100 slides per prompt. For a one-off deck or internal slides, the free plan (400 credits, up to 10 slides per prompt) is enough.
In plain English: what is Gamma for?
The problem: you have to pitch your offer to a client, and you lose hours lining up slides in PowerPoint instead of working on what you actually want to say.
The solution: Gamma builds the presentation from a short written prompt. You describe what you want to say, it designs the slides, and you export them to PDF or PowerPoint, even on the free plan. It can also make a document or a simple one-page website.

Is Gamma worth paying for, and what does it really cost over 2 years?
Gamma turns a written prompt into a presentation, a document or a simple website. There is a free plan, and it already exports to PDF and PowerPoint. So paying is not about exporting: it removes the Gamma branding, lifts the 10-slide limit per prompt and gives you fresh AI credits every month. Here is the 2-year cost in US dollars, before any sales tax, at the annual rates shown on October 27, 2026:
- Free: $0. 400 credits when you sign up; they do not refill.
- Plus: $216 ($9 a month, billed $108 a year).
- Pro: $432 ($18 a month, billed $216 a year).
- Ultra: $2,160 ($90 a month, billed $1,080 a year), only for people who produce content nonstop.
Our three picks:
- Best value (our pick): Gamma Plus, $9 a month billed annually. 1,000 credits a month, up to 100 slides per prompt, no Gamma branding, advanced AI image models. Who it’s for: the freelancer or small business that sends decks to clients.
- Best quality: Gamma Pro, $18 a month billed annually. 4,000 credits a month, premium AI image models, your own brand colors and fonts, detailed viewer analytics, up to 10 custom domains. Who it’s for: anyone who publishes a lot and wants to know who reads.
- Cheapest that still works: Gamma Free, $0. Up to 10 slides per prompt, export to PDF, PowerPoint, PNG and Google Slides, Gamma branding kept. Who it’s for: someone with one presentation to make this week who wants to see if the tool clicks.

Prices, credits and limits read on October 27, 2026 on Gamma’s pricing page and in its help center article on upgrading your plan. Prices are per seat, and tax depends on where you live. Month-to-month billing costs more: Gamma’s pricing page says annual billing saves up to 25%. Unused monthly credits roll over up to twice your monthly amount (Plus can hold up to 2,000).
What don’t Gamma’s pricing pages tell you before you pay?
Reading the pricing page and the help center side by side, three points stand out that no page puts up front:
- No page says how many credits one presentation uses. You know you get 400 on the free plan and 1,000 a month on Plus, not how many decks that adds up to. The only reliable way to decide: build one real presentation on the free plan and check in the app how many credits it used. If 400 credits would not cover a month of your work, Plus pays for itself; if they would, you would be paying for nothing.
- Exporting is not what you pay for. The free plan already exports to PowerPoint and PDF. What Plus buys you is a deck without the Gamma branding and without the 10-slide cap. For internal slides you can live without it; in front of a client, the branding matters.
- There is no classic free trial, but leaving is painless. Gamma says it does not offer a traditional trial: the free plan, with no time limit and no credit card, plays that role. If you pay and then cancel, you keep your paid features until the end of the billing period, then your account moves back to the free plan, and your content stays yours. The riskiest commitment is a full year paid upfront, not a monthly plan.
Should you pay for Gamma? Yes if… no if…
Yes, if…
- you send presentations to clients and the Gamma branding cannot appear on them;
- you regularly build decks of more than 10 slides (training, reports, detailed proposals);
- you make new presentations every month, and an hour saved is worth more to you than $9.
Who should skip it
- you make one or two presentations a year: the free plan, or a tool you already own, is enough;
- you already pay for a design tool you use every day and like;
- you want to control every pixel of the layout: fine-tuning is limited, and Gamma’s layouts tend to look alike.
What if you want neither Gamma nor another subscription?
Three ways to skip another bill: the free web versions of Google Slides and PowerPoint, which you lay out by hand; Gamma’s free plan, to get a fast first draft; or the free plan plus a final polish in PowerPoint, since Gamma exports to it. If you want your decks to build themselves from a form or a spreadsheet, Gamma’s API works with no-code tools such as Zapier and Make, which we compare in Zapier vs Make vs n8n: free plans. If your presentation is there to sell a course or a coaching offer, our Systeme.io review shows how to put the sales page and payments behind it. Method: we have not tried Gamma in-house. This article compares Gamma’s pricing page and help center, read on October 27, 2026, with our own 2-year cost math. When a page says nothing, such as how many credits a presentation uses, we say so instead of guessing.
FAQ
Is Gamma free?
Yes, with limits. As of October 27, 2026, the free plan gives you 400 credits at signup, which do not refill, and up to 10 slides per prompt. It already exports to PDF, PowerPoint, PNG and Google Slides. The Gamma branding is only removed from the Plus plan up.
How much does Gamma cost per month in 2026?
As of October 27, 2026, on Gamma’s pricing page: Plus $9 a month ($108 billed annually), Pro $18 a month ($216 a year), Ultra $90 a month ($1,080 a year), per seat and before tax. Over 2 years, that is $216 for Plus and $432 for Pro.
What happens if I cancel Gamma?
You keep your paid features and credits until the end of the period you already paid for, then your account moves back to the free plan. Gamma says your content stays yours, but some advanced features are then limited.
Can Gamma replace PowerPoint?
Not entirely. Gamma generates a first version from a prompt, then you edit it; it exports to PowerPoint and PDF and can import your PowerPoint files. You can start in Gamma and finish in PowerPoint if your clients require it.
What is the difference between Gamma Plus and Gamma Pro?
Plus ($9 a month billed annually) removes the Gamma branding, allows up to 100 slides per prompt and gives 1,000 credits a month. Pro ($18) adds 4,000 credits, premium AI image models, custom branding, detailed analytics and up to 10 custom domains.
Our verdict
For a freelancer or small business that presents to clients, Gamma Plus is the sweet spot: $9 a month billed $108 a year, or $216 over 2 years (checked October 27, 2026), for clean, unbranded decks built in minutes instead of hours. Start on the free plan today: one real presentation will show you how fast it is and whether 400 credits cover your needs. Choose Gamma Pro, at $18 a month, if you also want viewer analytics and your own brand colors.
